What these musicians are doing is really great. I'd like to learn more about the person or organization that served as the catalyst for this? Whose idea was it?

I hear that Dave Matthews approached John Mayer and other musicians to perform. He's from Virginia,so this event was a community event for him.

From a purely cultural and purpose driven angle,I'd think it would have been Heavier Octaves.Have you read their "About Us" section? Then, again,it could have been the notion of utilizing the arts and music to provide "uplift and encouragement".That's a universal principal, which is a favorite of "Creativessel Inspirations",one of the "Chaplain of Pop's" blogs.
