John Mayer At the Comedy Cellar NYC and Going Green

John Mayer, multi-platinum, grammy award-winning recording artist, is often a performer in benefit concerts promoting humanitarian relief efforts, which have included helping out good friend Alicia Keys in her performance at the Annual Black Ball Event for the Keep A Child Alive Foundation raising funds and attention about the AIDs crisis in Africa. He has also performed in the Tsunami Aid Concert of Hope and VH1 React Now benefit for survivors of Hurricane Katrina.
In a recent addition to his growing list of activities engaged in for the common good, he
Here, he shows off his comedy skills at a recent show at New York City's Comedy Cellar. Mayer frequents the club, hanging out with comic friends like Sherrod Small and to occasionally check out comic superstars such as Chris Rock ,who is among a cadre of superstar comedians who from time to time test out new material there.
Mayer has become respected among his fans as a ballsy and original humorist and probably figured that it was time to take his "stand up act" on the road. Not only does he perform live comedy at the Cellar, but he also gives his music concert fans a healthy dose of clever and witty banter in between grammy award-winning songs at sold out arenas throughout the country and around the world.

John Mayer Makes a Case to Stop Global Warming

John Mayer in a well crafted appeal, sets forth his honest views about global warming and other "heady" concerns in his recent "My Space" blog specifically addressing this controversial topic which has continued to grow in worldwide interest.
In his usual clever and witty style,Mayer entices his readers with the subject heading "Free Online Haircut". After the following lead in, "Now that I have your attention...", he goes into detail about how he was gradually, although it might appear to have been instantaneous sans a closer reading, won over by the apparently savvy head of the organization,Stop Global Warming, and asks his fans and loyal blog readers to sign up for a virtual march organized by the organization. Some of the virtual marchers include such high profile celebs as actor Leonardo Dicaprio, Senator Barack Obama and former NAACP President Kweisi Mfume to name a few. Mayer's quite persuasive and it looks like a worthwhile endeavor.
At least it will start you thinking on the matter,if you have not begun to do that already. It certainly has gotten Mr.Mayer thinking enough to want to pass on the challenge to his friends and fans to do the same. Follow the headline link for some interesting insight and gain a window into the quirky, yet creative heart and mind of one of music's well respected and admired musicians on this important environmental issue.

Heroic Efforts to Raise Public Awareness on Global Warming-Spotlight on a Warrior(click for more info...)
On Thanksgiving I had the chance to break bread with a dear friend and her family, who by the way happens to be one of the best cooks around. During our dinner we touched on lots of important subjects. Her son, Billy Parish,is now organizing students to raise public awareness about global warming and its devastating impact upon our planet. There is a big event planned in Montreal where leaders of energy producing nations will dialogue on issues important to the future of the Earth's atmosphere.Billy is a quiet and modest person of integrity. His action is consistent with who he is. It's about time that we started to demonstrate our support for these kind of qualities in our leaders. Then, just maybe, we wouldn't have to fight so hard on the tail end to reverse and correct some of the uncaring policies that spawn global warming and other environmental catastrophies waiting to happen.
For more about Mr Parish, please read the article featuring him and others in the November issue of Rolling Stone magazine by clicking on the above headline link to this blog entry.
